Maunalua Bay
Invasive Alien Algae Removal Project

Pono Pacific has been contracted to carry out the removal of alien algae, primarily Avrainvillea amadelpha, from 22 acres in Maunalua Bay, Oahu over a 12 month period. These alien algae have been invading and suffocating the bay for the past few decades, which has resulted in a severe loss of coral and marine life. Work began on March 15, 2010 and will go through February 2011.
